With the advancement and development of science and technology, the pace of socio-economic growth continues to accelerate, while competition across industries is intensifying. Over the past few decades, China's valve industry has made significant strides in product innovation, performance, quality, reliability, and customer service. Today, the industry is rapidly evolving toward greater automation, intelligence, versatility, efficiency, and reduced resource consumption—becoming an indispensable component in production processes across numerous sectors.

In recent years, China's valve industry has entered a period of rapid growth, with the barriers to entry steadily rising. Today, China has become one of Asia's largest valve manufacturing hubs and is now among the world's leading valve markets. However, per capita consumption of valve products in China remains relatively low on the global stage, currently standing at just $22 per person. Still, with the burgeoning demand for valves used in power plants, chemical industries, construction materials, and even food processing, it’s clear that the valve industry boasts a promising future and an increasingly attractive market.

This is primarily thanks to:

1. Support from national policies. As the nation accelerates its policy to revitalize the equipment manufacturing industry, general foundational manufacturing will receive even greater emphasis and support for further development.

2. Strong demand in the valve product market, coupled with the continued stable growth of China’s state-owned economy and the gradual expansion of fixed-asset investments, is driving significant momentum. By 2015, China’s valve market is projected to surpass the U.S. market by 10% and exceed Japan’s market by four times in size. Buyers are expected to spend as much as $2.4 billion on valve purchases.

By 2015, China's valve market will be 10% larger than the U.S. market and four times bigger than Japan's. Buyers are expected to spend a total of $2.4 billion on valves. Notably, three of the top 10 valve-buying companies—and six of the top 20—will originate from Asia. To thrive, China's valve industry must prioritize increased investment in technology, elevate its overall industry standards, foster dynamic collaboration between universities and enterprises on electric control valves, actively expand into international markets, and strengthen its brand identity across the board.

Moreover, this year the equipment manufacturing industry has continued to be one of China's key pillars driving economic growth. Among these critical sectors, fluid machinery holds a pivotal position in the nation's major mechanical equipment projects, playing a vital role in delivering comprehensive, complementary, and cutting-edge technologies to industries such as petrochemicals, power generation, metallurgy, environmental protection, water resources, and municipal engineering. As a result, fluid machinery often serves as the core component in many advanced, large-scale technological systems.

Its main products—including pumps, valves, pipelines, fans, compressors, filtration and separation equipment, vacuum systems, and gas purification devices—are widely used across numerous industries such as petrochemicals. This will undoubtedly open up a vast market for the fluid machinery equipment manufacturing sector, creating new opportunities for growth and development.

To strengthen extensive communication and collaboration between the fluid machinery manufacturing industry and its diverse user base, Chinese valve enterprises should actively expand both domestic and international markets. This will further drive technological advancements and economic growth in China’s fluid machinery sector, facilitating the commercialization of cutting-edge research outcomes and high-tech products while phasing out outdated machinery to elevate overall industry standards. We warmly invite and encourage leading officials from key sectors across Southwest China—including petrochemicals, chemicals, power generation, metallurgy, environmental protection, oil and gas development & transportation, urban infrastructure projects, coal and mineral resource extraction, water management, light industry, building materials, textiles, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food processing, transportation, and national defense—as well as engineering design and construction professionals, to participate in this event. Let’s foster stronger ties and partnerships between fluid machinery manufacturers in Sichuan and users, engineering firms, and design institutes—both domestically and internationally—to jointly advance innovation and deliver sustainable solutions for industrial and societal needs.

The valve industry should also form enterprise groups, increase investment in technology, and develop high-end, large-scale, precision, and cutting-edge valve products. Additionally, efforts should be strengthened to standardize products, ensuring that standards keep pace with the evolving demands of the market—both in terms of quantity and quality.

Causes and Prevention of Flashing and Cavitation in Control Valves

Flash vaporization occurs when a non-compressible fluid, after being throttled through a control valve, experiences a drop in static pressure—from the vena contracta section all the way to the valve outlet—until the pressure equals or falls below the fluid’s saturation vapor pressure at the valve inlet temperature. This causes partial liquid evaporation, resulting in a two-phase mixture of gas and liquid downstream of the valve. The onset of flash vaporization leads to a point where the liquid flow no longer increases with further pressure drops, triggering choked flow conditions. Additionally, flash vaporization generates a gas-liquid two-phase flow, with both gas and liquid simultaneously flowing through the valve trim and downstream piping, causing erosion. A distinctive feature of this phenomenon is that the valve trim develops a smooth, polished appearance.

Design and Selection of Low-Noise Control Valves

Most noise in control valves occurs with compressible fluids, as some of the energy is converted into sound during the throttling process. A common rule of thumb for estimation is this: if the product of the Cv value and the inlet pressure exceeds 1,000, the control valve will generate significant noise under critical pressure drop conditions.

Energy-saving control valve: A Path Toward Lower Energy Consumption

Employing control valves with a low pressure-drop ratio helps reduce the proportion of the valve's pressure drop relative to the system’s total pressure loss, thereby lowering energy consumption. As a result, designing control valves with a low pressure-drop ratio has become one of the key development directions—while another promising avenue is the adoption of low-impedance control valves, such as butterfly valves or eccentric rotary valves. Additionally, self-operated control valves are gaining traction; for instance, directly utilizing the downstream medium’s pressure to create a self-regulating control system, leveraging the controlled medium’s own energy to maintain precise pressure regulation downstream.
